Opening Prayer

Lord, Open my lips.

And my mouth shall declare your praise.

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,

is now and ever shall be,

world without end. Amen.

This responsorial from Psalm 51:15 and the Glory Be after Matthew 28:19 are often spoken at the beginning of Morning Prayer in Benedictine communities, as prescribed in Chapter 35 of the Rule.
